Hedge & Tree Trimming

About Our Hedge Trimming Service

Overgrown hedges and poorly maintained trees can make even the most beautiful garden look unkempt, reduce light to your property, and in some cases create safety risks. At First Choice Landscaping, our hedge and tree trimming service is carried out by experienced operatives using professional equipment, delivering clean, precise results every time.

We trim and shape all common hedge species — including privet, box, laurel, leylandii, beech, hornbeam, and yew — to the level of formality you require, from tight topiary to relaxed natural shapes. For trees, we offer crown reduction, crown thinning, deadwooding, and selective pruning to improve structure, light, and safety. All arisings are collected and removed from site as standard, leaving your garden clean and tidy. We carry out all work in compliance with current wildlife legislation, taking particular care during nesting season.

Why Choose First Choice Landscaping?

How It Works

1

Assessment

We assess the hedges and trees to be trimmed, check for wildlife activity, and agree the desired shape, height, and timing with you before any work begins.

2

Trimming & Pruning

Using professional hedge cutters, pruning saws, and loppers, we trim precisely to the agreed shape, removing deadwood and crossing branches where appropriate.

3

Clearance

All clippings and removed material are collected, bagged, and taken away by our team. Your garden is left clean, tidy, and ready to enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to trim hedges?
Timing depends on the species. Most formal hedges are best trimmed in late spring and again in late summer. Flowering hedges should be trimmed after they have flowered. We avoid trimming between March and August when possible to protect nesting birds.
Do you remove the clippings?
Yes, removal of all clippings and arisings is included as standard in all our hedge and tree trimming work. We leave your garden clean and tidy after every visit.
Do I need permission to prune or remove a tree?
Trees with a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or those in a Conservation Area may require permission before any work is carried out. We'll check this for you as part of our initial assessment and handle any required notifications on your behalf.
